Repair Information for P Suzuki code. Learn what does P Suzuki Engine Positions System Performance Bank 1 means?.

Q: I found engine light on. P error code. what can i do? is it serious? how can it be fixed on Suzuki XL7, liters? it has

If the computer detects that theses are not aligned properly, you will want to check the timing chain. I bet that most of the people that are having problems are using regular oil and changing it according to the oil monitoring system allowing sludge to build up in the engine blocking the passages of the cam phasing system and related mechanisms. Timing chains do not strech, not at least before 1,, miles. Keeping the right amount of coolant in a car is essential in keeping the engine at the right temperature. Any help would be great.

P Engine Positions System Performance Bank 1

Registered Users do not see the above ads. Hi all, Hopefully someone can help. We have a xl It came up as P engine position system performance bank 1. Does anyone have any info on this at all? Also, it is a US model and we live in Canada I will head to Suzuki and hope for the best!! Yeah take it into the dealer. Probably a stretched timing chain. The misalignment would be at an idler sprocket for either bank or at the crankshaft.

Once the ECM learns the position of both camshafts on one bank of the engine, the ECM compares the learned values to a reference value. The ECM will set a DTC if both learned values for one bank of the engine are exceeding a calibrated threshold in the same direction. Conditions for Setting the DTC The ECM detects that both camshafts on either bank of the engine are mis-aligned with the crankshaft for more than 4 seconds or a cumulative of 50 seconds.

An incorrectly installed secondary timing chain can cause this DTC to set. This diagnostic algorithm is designed to detect an alignment condition between a primary intermediate sprocket and the secondary timing chain, or the alignment between a primary intermediate sprocket and the crankshaft.

Either condition would cause the camshaft timing for both cams on one bank to be off an equal number of degrees. Or, the crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced to top dead center TDC. My bet is poor contact on a connector. GM wiring tends to do this. Timing chains do not strech, not at least before 1,, miles. Timing Chain is probably is stretched!

My XL7 with 22, miles is at the dealer waiting for a tensioner for my timing chains there are 3. I got the same code ,Suzuki told them at first to shut off the check engine light, there is no such code it came back on.

Turns out the timing chains are stretching on these vehicles. The dealer I bought mine at has done 5 of them, timing chain replacements. I had to go through the song and dance of showing all my oil change receipts and then wait for 2 days to hear from Suzuki USA to see if they were going to honor their warranty, they've almost had it for 2 weeks and still haven't started on it, parts on back order.

I would say this is more than a small problem if they can't get the parts. Make sure you make them fix it before it becomes more of an issue. I hear the oil sludge is creating this problem and oil is not getting to the timing chain. I used synthetic blend, I will go to full synthetic once I get it back. It will reduce the chance of sludge.

Jose, I understand that this engine is built by Suzuki in Japan and sent to Canada to go in the vehicle. That is the only way the oil can be changed as per the engine oil life monitoring computer. I bet that most of the people that are having problems are using regular oil and changing it according to the oil monitoring system allowing sludge to build up in the engine blocking the passages of the cam phasing system and related mechanisms.

Last week I drove around 1k miles without a problem. Have you seen many XL7 problems in PR? I was there in November and saw just a few of them, maybe two. I've read the engine was engineered to use Mobil 1 which is not in the manual. Please click one of the Quick Reply icons in the posts above to activate Quick Reply. Quote message in reply?
